As long as there is incentive for police to make arrests, regardless of guilt or innocence, and informants to lessen their sentences or earn money, citizens will be entrapped--A malignant spiral of injustice: The more arrests, the more informants, the more 'criminals' needed to maintain the system. This will negatively incur on the safety and protection of society. The naive are easiest to manipulate and frame...Hardened criminals know these tactics. Furthermore, it fosters the development of 'gangs' for protection. And fails to address or focus resources on antecedents and prevention. It too often takes the innocent or ambivalent and molds them into criminals. Unconscionable. In regards to t/error, it frequently pushes those vulnerable: to inform (sanctioned betrayal) or radicalize (perverted loyalty)...Some in power are happy to play this treacherous game with human lives. The generalized mistrust has fomented dangerous forms of fundamentalism we grapple with today. Who knows what's said "off the record?" Does it matter? These are manipulative psychopaths. Good luck escaping them. Anyone who'd throw others under the bus to protect his/herself is morally questionable. Their info is unreliable. And again, this doesn't matter!
